Classic Game Room HD – SMASH TV for Xbox 360 review

Classic Game Room HD reviews SMASH TV for Xbox Live Arcade on Xbox 360. This SMASH TV review features HD gameplay from Smash TV, the iconic arcade hit from Williams featuring a demented Running Man style tv where you must survive by destroying waves of enemies, robots, tanks and goons! One of the creators of Smash TV is Eugene Jarvis, hero of CGRHD for his creation of Robotron 2084 and Defender. Using Robotron-style dual joystick controls you move with the left analog thumbstick on the 360 controller and fire with the right. Gameplay is frantic and out of control with more enemies than you can possibly destroy with your pea shooter gun. Weapon power ups, shields and extra lives are a must in this quarter munching arcade machine which was released in 1990. This XBLA version of Smash TV looks just like the arcade machine. Players can play a co-op game with a friend over Xbox Live Arcade and machine gun enemies together. You have unlimited continues when playing the XBLA Xbox 360 version of Smash TV. This is a must have, very affordable and really fun. Smash TV is TOTAL CARNAGE!!!!!!!!! Classic Game Room HD reviews XBLA video games as an XBLA reviewer reviewing games like Smash TV for Xbox Live Arcade. Although a sequel to Smash TV was talked about sadly it never came to be made.

  2. bland9876 says:

@acomicmuffin1 Actually every game cloned this like geometry wars and asteroids gunner

  3. bland9876 says:

They should make a game like this only in fps mode

I just got on XBLA and I’m so disappointed that this is no longer available. I loved this game in the arcade when I was a kid and I didn’t like the ports to the NES and whatnot because they didn’t have the two directional pads. Great Review. Your reviews are always the best. If only this get were still available I would certainly buy it.

  5. acomicmuffin1 says:

Treyarch shamelessly cloned this game, in dead ops arcade

  6. kawrght says:

  7. GamerOverkill says:

Total Carnage was a kind of Sequel to Smash TV

  8. kawrght says:

there was a sequel to smash tv in the works when midway went under so it never finished production, rumour is that the reason time warner hasnt re-released smash tv yet is because they are working on the sequel

  9. kawrght says:

i should point out with midways bankruptcy and liquidation to time warner in (who now own the rights to all their games)this game is no longer available on xbox live as microsoft, and possibly time warner, have no idea where the rights are. which is a shame, this is the best multiplayer game ever.

    yes.

  15. CopyrightedGaming says:

Midway went Bankrupt soon after it was released and all of their games including Guantlet were pulled from the Marketplace. So if you didn’t buy it when it first came out, you cannot get it on xbox at all.

  16. Gibson299 says:

Uhm this isn’t on the Xbox Live Arcade.
    ]
Isn’t showing on Xbox Live arcade website.

  17. srvfan42 says:

Just beat this game on MAME, and it’s brutal. Seriously, this game kicks your ass, seasons it, grills it, and hands it to you on a silver platter. I think I pushed the Start button AT LEAST 135 times. Probably not that much, but still…

  18. America3sixteen says:

Does the XBox 360 version feature the Pleasure Dome? I know only certain arcade units did.

  19. DAtNizzaYOuKnOw says:

I can totally tell that the same developers who made Zombies Ate My Neighbors made this

  20. SwankeyMonkey says:

    You win… a TOASTER!!!

  21. SwankeyMonkey says:

I’ll buy that for a dollar!

  22. impurekind says:

    Eh, they made the sequel.

    It’s called Total Carnage.

Not quite as pure fun as the original though.

  23. Tempest9000 says:

I think Treyarch thought more of it as a parody.

  24. Macabresque says:

I remember playing this game on my PS1 when I was little. That shit was so fun. Apparently you can’t download this from Xbox Live anymore though. /sad

  25. wolfengheist says:

Total Carnage was a unrelated sequel to Smash TV
